Summer 2010
Summer has flown by! Here are some much overdue pictures of the family and our adventures.
First up is the documentation that Anaya gets herself dressed these days. The forecast was 70 and cloudy, so she opted for a skirt "because it's summer", wool tights and a fleece "because it's chilly", and sunglasses and a hat "so the bright sun won't shine in my eyes". What an Oregonian. The sun peeked out for all of 10 minutes.
Anaya and Flora cuddled up and ready for bed at the cabin on Mt. Hood. Anaya, after several picture attempts, points out that she is no longer smiling. Flora, still happy.
Anaya with some friends at their cabin up the road a bit. This time, smiling.

Mémé, Papa John, Anaya and Sadie enjoy the cozy cabin.
Anaya got up this particular morning and "got ready". For what, I don't know. I wasn't allowed to look, but I snuck a peek. Layered t-shirts like Mama taught her and rain boots. Here she is "packing my lunch all by myself. Don't worry, Mama, I will be safe. I'm not using the sharp knives." Great.
The lunch: raisins and an avocado. Hey, at least she picked healthy foods!
This is what is packed in the backpack - extra shirts, just in case. After all, Flora gets an extra outfit packed, "just in case" all the time. You never know when you could need 3 extra t-shirts.
All ready, Mama! Oh wait. Do we have anywhere we need to go?
Supposedly getting ready for bed the night before we leave for California, I am dubbed Princess Mama.
In southern California, my friend Alison, her husband Ian and Anaya kicking back on the couch.
Ah, the southern California beach!
Vanessa and Fay beach time!
My friend, Fay, and Flora.
Anaya making sand cakes.
Anaya, telling me that I will have to EAT the sand cake...
Fourth of July weekend was spent with my niece, Jessica. We had a great time going to the park, on a paddle boat ride at Blue Lake, and shooting off fireworks. Here are some highlights.
Flora, at the park, as tall as the trees!
Anaya preparing for the decent of her 13 year old cousin, Jessica.
"Whoa, Jess! I almost missed ya!"
Anaya decides she wants to go down, too.
Anaya picks out the first fireworks.
Daddy, be careful!
Sheer joy.
Anaya breaks into spontaneous applause.
Who's more excited here? Please note the relatively small, not-too-exciting firework that has them both giddy.
Daddy and Anaya.
Happy girl.
