Family Reunion to Iowa
Recently we went to Daddy's family reunion in Ackley, Iowa. There were about 150 people there and I am related to every single one!

The first full day there, we went to the county fair. Here I am pointing to the animals that I want Daddy to take me to see.
Here I am at a sheep pen. They had their fluffy winter coats shorn, so I didn't immediately recognize them as sheep, but once they started saying, "BAAA" I knew who they were.
I am very good at speaking sheep.
This little girl was getting her calf ready to show. I decided right then that I must pet a calf.
And I did.
These pigs were so cute...
...that I decided to try to let them out. Mama said, "no". HMPH!
Papa John got a cup of fresh squeezed lemonade. He offered me a sip and I liked it so much...
...that I finished it and licked the straw.
There was a man inside the building with a bucket of rubber duckies. Here I am, helping them swim.
They needed a lot of help, so I obliged.
At the fair they had an old fashioned town set up.
This man was making furniture.
And this man was making ice cream.
Watching all those people was making me thirsty! So, Mama and Daddy took me to a place called the Saloon. By the way, all those people, both inside the Saloon and outside, are all my family!
I sidled up to the bar and ordered myself a nice tall sippy cup of water.
The twirly stools were pretty fun!
It was such a long morning that I was really tired! I took a long nap, had a bath, and was then ready for a snack on our hotel bed - sans clothes.
We also went to visit an old one room schoolhouse. This lady was pretending to be a strict school marm. All those people? Yep, you guessed it - my family.
That's my Uncle Colin in the dunce cap. He came to school late.
Mémé did, too.
Not me. I was on time and sat in my desk the whole time she talked.
Even if I did color the whole time she was telling the history of the building.
Mama tried to get me in trouble by calling my name in the middle of class to get me to look at the camera. Bad Mama.
Even though she was just acting, I really didn't want to stand next to her for a picture.
The next day we went to the old family farm. The farmhouse is still there and while the grownups talked about the history of the house...
...my cousin John and I played with dried corn cobs.

Daddy also showed me how to blow a blade of grass to make a funny sound.
Daddy gets me in position.
Hmmm...it worked when Daddy used it.
Daddy, are you sure this one works?
Anyway, it was really neat, despite the fact that I can't do it myself.
Later we got to sit on a very old tractor that my great great grandfather bought long ago.
Driving a tractor takes lots of concentration.
I shared my snack with John Deere.
In the evening, my Uncle Gene (who is really my great grandma's brother) hooked up the old tractor and took us for a hay ride. We saw lightening bugs and the big boys (who are 6) told scary stories.
The next day we headed to Des Moines on our way home. Here we are at the lake at Iowa State University. There were two white swans who liked Mama and I until we didn't have any bread crumbs to give them. This was the place where my Great Grandpa Carl proposed to my Great Grandma Mary.
It was sunny so I thought it best to protect my eyes.
But then I couldn't see, so I took the shades off.
