June 15 was a big day at our house. Mémé and Papa John were in town to celebrate my Auntie Beth's graduation and it was Father's Day AND Mama's birthday.

For Father's Day I decided to plant some veggies and herbs for Daddy. Here I am preparing a pot for some basil.

Mama said it needed a little more dirt. Ahem...Mama...it's called soil.

I thought this label that sticks into the pot was pretty exciting. Daddy probably won't miss it, right?

Do you think this pepper will fit in the pot, too?

With two plants potted, I pause to point to an airplane.

And, I'll be taking this label, too, thank you very much.

Daddy squeezes me tight for a picture when what I really wanted to do was play with his card.

I'm a good helper when it comes to opening packages. Papa John didn't even have to ask.

His card was really funny. I'm not sure I got all the nuances of the joke, but everyone laughed a lot.

Requisite family shot of the big day.

I was really more interested in the cake than the photo taking.

The next week we went to California for my Auntie Fay's wedding. While Mama packed, I thought I should treat Sadie to something nice.

Hey Mama, there are dog cookies in this box. Can I give one to Sadie?

I put them carefully in her bowl.

See? Don't worry. I put them all back in the box when Mama said that was too many. Well, all except 5 or 6 of them.

When we were in California, I got to go swimming with my cousin, Jessica.

I was a little groggy after my nap.

But then Grammy started singing a silly song.

Then we were BOTH laughing. She really is a blast, my Grammy.

Mama and I went for a dip...

...and I show her how I can kick my legs. There's nothing to it, really.

Grammy and Pop Pop also have blueberry bushes. Mama gave me this little bowl to gather them in.

And then I ate one...

...and another, and another...

Let me help you harvest these...

...right into my tummy!

Back in Portland, we are enjoying the sunshine. Mama, hurry up and take the picture. That girl is eyeing my swing.

Here's my friend, Sam, looking happy in his swing. (No one was plotting a sneaky take over of HIS swing.)
